Folklore

There are stories of Glynn County's history still buzzing throught the Golden Isles.  One of the most of these stories - telling of ghostly spirits and remarkable sights.

Sidney Lanier, a poet,  was inspired  to write his famous poem, The Marshes of Glynn, after his visit to Glynn County.  This poem was written in 1870.  He wrote in detail aboout the overview of the marshlands.

Some have said that their are spirits locked in St. Simons Island's trees; lost souls looking for a place of escape.  It is even said that at times while strolling on the island, visitors are often surprised to look up and find a face peering out at them from within one of the many trees.

Artistic Festivals

With over 25 organizations in Glynn County, it is no wonder that arts and humanities are a prime objective of Glynn County.  Each year, Glynn County, host at least ten art-related festivals; the number of culture-rich events continues to grow.

The Golden Isles Arts and Humanities Association (GIAHA) coordinates art events for Glynn County.  Also, they organize programs in the performing arts, visual arts, literature, and arts-in-education on a regular basis.

In addition, GIAHA  plans a number of special events throughout the year, offering a full calendar for visitors and residents alike.

MUSIC

First, there are the Georgia Sea Island Singers, performing each year at the Georgia Sea Island Heritage Festival, provide a historical and unique sound.  The one important part of this is that the Ritz Centennial Season features family performances throughout the year in a variety of the performing arts.

Some of the genres of music are Opera, jazz bands, musicals, vaudeville acts and string quartets are only a taste of the events that have been held within the historic walls of the Ritz Theatre in historic Downtown Brunswick.

The Beach Music Festival on Jekyll Island always gives Glynn County's residents and non-residents a fun-filled weekend for the many beach-goers that flock to this annual event every year to shag to the oldies.

Welcome to Brunswick & The Golden Isles of Georgia!

What makes the city of Brunswick unique is that Brunswick & The Golden Isles consists of a port city and four islands. St. Simons Island

St. Simons Island has captivated millions of visitors for decades for its remarkable beauty and fascinating history. Lovely beaches and historic remnants of bygone eras are just a glimpse of what this Island has to offer to visitors and residents. One of the most appealing attraction is Ft. Frederica and the other sites of antebellum plantations that gives the Island its enriching history.

Sea Island

Sea Island is unique in its land position;reached by causeway from St. Simons Island. Sea Island is an internationally acclaimed Five Star resort.

Little St. Simons Island

Little St. Simons Island is reached only by boat. It is very secluded coastal getaway. It is also very quaint offering accommodations for just about thirty guests. Another key point about this area is that its 10,000 acres of maritime forests and tidal creeks, & miles and miles of shell-strewn beaches continues to remain untouched by man's hands making it an enrichment, ideally natural environment for a host of outdoor recreational activities and relaxation.

Jekyll Island

This Island is the most Southern style of the Golden Isles. Jekyll island is home to a splendidly restored historic district as well as ten glorious miles of golden-sand beaches.
